This post came to me when I was carrying the garbage can in from the street this morning. Cutting through Babbie’s biggest garden, I saw how the early  sun was catching a cluster of purple flower flowers. (I’m sorry but I’m as bad at remembering flowers’ names as peoples’.) I went in for the camera. The beauty below – I think it might be a flock – is the one that spurredd this post. Oh, while I’m guessing at names, I think the one above is a day lilly.

Above, we have white flowers and below multicolored.

These are the ferns that have taken over the shady side  of what we call “The Pit.” It’s a stone filled drywell the opens to my studio in the basement.

And here’s a grasshopper sitting on a frond of a fern in another section of the garden.

I don’t know it’s name. But it’s a beauty. I think the one below is a cleome. Am I right. Babbie’s gardens are big and amazing and a lot of work. Let me see if I can come up with some overall shots.

Here’s a shot from 2009 of Babbie with her wild and wonderful front garden.
